Using PRP for hair restoration is one of the few techniques that involves no surgery, minimal downtime, and natural results. At 7 Seas Medical Spa, we offer this service to patients living in Evans, Columbia City, Augusta, and the neighboring communities of Georgia.
What is PRP for Hair Loss?
Our blood is full of platelets that contain something called growth factors. These growth factors stimulate healing and growth wherever it is needed, and even have the power to stimulate natural hair growth. For PRP hair restoration, we collect a concentrated amount of these platelets and develop platelet-rich plasma, or PRP. Then, the PRP is injected into the scalp, where it stimulates the natural hair growth cycle. As a result, patients can enjoy natural hair growth without the scarring, surgery, and downtime associated with other hair restoration techniques. This treatment can even be combined with other hair restoration techniques to enhance results and accelerate healing.
How Much Does PRP for Hair Loss Cost?
The cost of your PRP hair restoration treatment will depend on a variety of factors, including the extent of treatment needed to produce your desired results. During your consultation, Dr. Austin will assess your treatment goals in order to develop a personalized treatment plan. At this point, we will be able to provide you with the full cost of treatment. For your convenience, we accept many forms of payment and offer flexible financing options through CareCredit®, PatientFi – Click here to apply and Prosper® Healthcare Lending.
What is the PRP for Hair Loss Treatment Like?
The first step of a PRP hair restoration treatment is collecting blood. Your blood will be taken just like you were having bloodwork done. Once collected, the blood is placed in a centrifuge, which is a machine that separates the components of the blood to develop PRP. Once the PRP is obtained, it is injected into the areas of the scalp where hair loss is occurring. The treatment is usually completed in about one hour.
What Can I Expect After My PRP for Hair Loss Treatment?
After your PRP hair restoration treatment, you may notice some minor swelling, redness, or sensitivity in the treated areas. These effects are common, and usually fade within a few days. The PRP begins to immediately stimulate hair growth, and you can expect to notice results about two to three months after treatment. Optimal results can be seen about four months after treatment, although we may recommend multiple treatment sessions in some cases. There is no downtime required after a PRP hair restoration treatment, so patients can return to work and other normal activities right away.
